Mad June versus Proposition 8, plus video footage from Boston’s Lilith Fair

Mad June versus Proposition 8, plus video footage from Boston’s Lilith Fair. November 2008 many things happened in the world and in our lives that affected us deeply, the ballot Proposition 8 that was passed in California was one of them. I couldn’t believe that in our day and age we could still lose the basic rights that we already have. I felt angry and hurt and powerless and felt the need share. Our Song November, written November 2008, featured on our November 2009 release, We’re Not Strangers, gave us the outlet to express ourselves. At the time of the release and until a few days ago Proposition 8 had still not been thrown out. Now even if Prop 8 is clearly and legally violative of the US federal constitution and “strait out “ (no pun intended) discrimination, some folks are still pushing to get it reinstated. So for now and until the entire planet ACCEPTS and does not just TOLERATE the LGBT community I will continue to feel so small but big enough to make a difference. To celebrate Prop 8 being overturned in California, Mad June is offering their song November to you for free!

Also, here is a little video montage filmed at Boston’s Lilith Fair on July 30th. As Montreal’s Ourstage.com local talent search winners, Mad June was invited to sing Because The Night with all the other artists who performed at the Comcast Center. Thanks to their fan’s votes, Mad June was selected by the Lilith Fair crew to perform a thirty minute set at the Montreal concert on July 23rd. But due to the show being cancelled along with ten other stops on the Lilith Tour, the band didn’t get to play their set. However, they shared the stage with music legend Sarah McLachlan, Tegan and Sarah, crowd pleaser Sarah Bareilles, and Boston’s Ourstage.com winners Winterbloom. Here is the video including an intro from Mad June’s singer Vanessa McLean:
